Chapter 56 : Interrogation ②

The Homeless Camper Wants to Live Leisurely in a Dungeon ~Even Dangerous Deep-Layer Monsters Are Just Ingredients to Me~

“……That’s how we managed to escape the dungeon with Kana and Runa.”

: “I see. Thank you very much for sharing such a valuable story.”

I recounted yesterday’s events to Mr. Momotake. While I was talking, a secretary-like person behind me was taking notes.

I honestly told them everything—from hearing from my listeners that Nijino appeared in front of the twins, rushing to help Kana and Runa, navigating through monsters on the 36th floor, reaching Nijino, countering his attacks, and eventually being swallowed by a horde of monsters.

“This matches the story we heard earlier from the twins’ channel. Based on the video and audio evidence left from both the Twins Channel’s broadcast and Higedarma-sama’s stream, it seems none of you will face any charges, so please rest assured.”

“That’s good to hear.”

So, they’ve already reviewed my streaming channel as well. At least it seems neither I nor the two girls will be punished, which is somewhat relieving.

“Higedarma-sama, we’re also very grateful for your cooperation in apprehending the barricaded suspect at Roppongi Mall the other day, as well as for providing us with a valuable magic item. We would like to offer you a reward for your involvement in this case as well.”

Ah, that refers to when I helped rescue Tanukin at Roppongi Mall.

“……Well, I just happened to be near the scene when the incident occurred. And I’ve already been properly compensated for providing the magic item, so there’s no need to worry about it.”

That’s what I communicated to the shop staff regarding that matter, and I received quite a substantial amount as compensation for handing over the Transparent Bracelet.

“Thanks to your actions, we were able to designate that magic item as prohibited outside the dungeon before any incidents could occur. Additionally, the fact that we can now research and prepare countermeasures in advance is greatly appreciated. Though, admittedly, developing those countermeasures will still take some time.”

That Transparent Bracelet could indeed cause serious trouble if misused outside the dungeon. Since it’s a magic item retrieved from fairly deep within the dungeon, analyzing it and devising countermeasures might take a while.

“By the way, regarding the banned magic items, do you know where Nijino obtained the Lure Honey, Berserker’s Bracelet, high-performance magic stones, or the Magic Shield?”

“I’m very sorry, but that’s still under investigation. Tracing the acquisition of banned magic items is difficult, but the Magic Shield has very limited sources, so we’re currently pursuing leads from that angle.”

“I see.”

The origins of the banned magic items and rare magic stones that Nijino possessed are still unknown, but only a single day has passed since then. Investigating based on the Magic Shield does seem like a reasonable approach.

This aligns with the response we anticipated after discussing with my listeners yesterday. Perhaps this whole situation wasn’t orchestrated by the Dungeon Association after all.

“Did you manage to retrieve the banned magic items and magic stones that Nijino Arika possessed?”

“No, given the situation—monsters were gathering on that floor and time was critical—we weren’t able to collect the weapons or magic items he had on him.”

…That’s an outright lie. The banned magic items he possessed could serve as crucial evidence, so after consulting with my listeners, I decided to keep them instead of handing them over to the Dungeon Association.

“Understood. Higedarma-sama, thank you very much once again. We’d like to offer you a reward, but if possible, could you provide us with your contact information? The contact details we have on file couldn’t be reached.”

“Sure, here you go.”

I handed Mr. Momotake a contact method separate from the streaming channel I’d previously given to Kana and Runa. My streaming channel was already exposed, so I hesitated about sharing another contact method, but my inbox there is flooded with messages from strangers these days.

Since my identity outside the dungeon is already known, I figured it was best to hand over this contact info. Besides, I received this man’s business card, so I can reach out to the Dungeon Association if needed.

“Thank you.”

“By the way, am I allowed to continue my streaming channel without issue?”

“Of course! It serves as inspiration for other dungeon explorers and streamers, so we’d actually love for you to keep going. It seems all your previous videos were deleted?”

“……I personally didn’t want too much attention, so I deleted the videos the day after posting them. But given how much attention I’ve already drawn after this incident, I plan to leave future videos up.”

“I see, that’s wonderful! I’m sure there are many viewers who look forward to or use your streams as a reference.”

Originally, I deleted the videos to avoid drawing attention, but now that I’ve gained this level of recognition, there’s no reason to keep deleting them.

“By the way, might we be able to request your cooperation in case of any major issues inside the dungeon in the future? You seem to be one of the top-tier dungeon explorers in Japan, and having your assistance during incidents like irregular monster appearances would be extremely helpful.”
