As the strongest witch in history, I somehow ended up being feared so much that I’m all alone. So, I figured I’d buy a cute girl slave and ask her for all kinds of things
My intuition told me something was coming.
It wasn’t wrong at all.
“It’s futile.”
As I cast a barrier to envelop the entire orphanage, a massive shockwave coursed through the area.
“Kyaaaaaaa?!”
“Wh-what’s going on!?”
“What… what is this…?”
“Ugh…”
An attack… but from who?
No, perhaps it’s aimed at me. The power I sense is quite formidable.
“Listen, I’m going out. Tia, stay inside. Don’t let any of the children who’ve woken up outside. As long as you remain within my barrier, you’ll be safe.”
“Huh!?”
If they stay within the barrier I’ve erected, they’ll be safe.
Leaving it would be far more dangerous.
“Alright.”
After finishing my instructions to Tia, I used teleportation magic to move to the airspace above the orphanage.
“Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
“…A magical creature.”
The monster that had fallen toward the orphanage from outside let out a roar in my direction.
Its form was grotesque, as if countless creatures had been forcibly fused together. One arm was covered in reptilian scales, while the other was wrapped in fur. Rotten bird wings sprouted from its back, and its legs were thin and thorny like an insect’s. Its face was twisted, with human and beastly eyes and mouths scattered haphazardly across it. From its torso, numerous tentacles extended, each tipped with claws or digits belonging to different creatures.
Its appearance was truly a warped product of magic, defying the natural order.
“Die.”
I unleashed my magic at the monstrosity, intending to obliterate its body.
“Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.”
“Strong resistance to magic… no doubt, this thing was created specifically to fight me.”
But my magic only inflicted minor wounds on the creature, nowhere near enough to be fatal.
I hadn’t held back on the power… the fact that it withstood my magic was astonishing.
“…Getting too flashy might disturb the neighbors.”
Given how well it’s prepared against powerful magic, overcoming it would require an equally potent spell… and using one would inevitably cause collateral damage.
I could suppress it with pinpoint attacks instead of wide-area ones, but the creature doesn’t seem to have any clear weak points.
“For now, shall I entertain it with a sword?”
Even after observing this far, there are countless ways to fight using magic.
That said, I drew a sword from thin air and pointed it toward the creature.
If it’s so heavily geared toward resisting magic, it likely isn’t very strong against physical attacks—this was the basis for my decision.
