Chapter 41 : Sister

As the strongest witch in history, I somehow ended up being feared so much that I’m all alone. So, I figured I’d buy a cute girl slave and ask her for all kinds of things

The orphanage we were guided to.

Inside, there were quite a few children.

Despite the orphanage being rather small and run-down, about thirty children lived there.

“T-t-this is… truly… not much, b-but… is this… coarse tea? P-please, accept this…”

“Thank you. But there’s no need to be so nervous. This is more than enough.”

“T-that… that may be true, but… what about the witch…?”

“She’s just being her usual self.”

The person running such an orphanage was a young woman.

Her age seemed to be around the same as mine.

Even so, her appearance and hands clearly showed signs of hardship. It was evident she had worked herself to the bone for the sake of this orphanage.

“…Delicious.”

I took a sip of the trembling tea the sister had served, making sure to express my thoughts properly.

She had gone out of her way to serve me tea, taking my presence into consideration.

There was no way I could brush it off with vague words, saying that I wasn’t good at communication. Such behavior wouldn’t be excusable.

“…!?”

“A-ah, thank you so much…!”

“W-wait, Etana… spoke on her own accord…!?”

“…H-hello, today…”

The person who was working so hard was frightened by my presence.

Realizing this, I tried my best to calm her down and let her know that we were allies.

“A-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!”

But, as expected, no matter how hard I tried, proper words just wouldn’t come out of my mouth.

“…?”

“Etana acting like this is normal… The words from before, your attempt to speak while looking into her eyes—those actions are proof that she, as a witch, holds the utmost respect and admiration for your tireless efforts for this orphanage.”

Ugh… And, as always, Tia ended up speaking on my behalf.

“T-the witch… respects me!?”

“We’re on your side. We were asked by Arona  to come here to try and improve the current situation of this orphanage.”

“T-the witch… is siding with this orphanage!?”

“The witch is truly a kind person, you know?”

As a person, I’m honestly quite hopeless.

“…”

But… as a witch, maybe I’m different… I hope.

While keeping in mind the children secretly peeking at us from the room where we were facing the sister, I began to think about what I could do.
