Chapter 51 : Heart Piercing

Yeah, Yeah, Another World, Another World

“Hey, how about hanging several of those silk sacs from the strings of your pants?”

Again, Okuda was saying something weird.

“Used silk sacs.”

Still spouting nonsense.

We had just finished collecting spider silk sacs and were heading to Luciti ’s family home. We were only picking up minimal drops from monsters encountered along the way, prioritizing speed…

“Isn’t Einerza-san too strong?”

Einerza was cutting down every monster we encountered with ease—like it was nothing. She truly seemed like a monster herself.

When a monster appeared in our path, she would either stomp on its face directly or knock it over first and then crush its head. And all while barely changing her expression. The aura of an overwhelmingly powerful character surrounded her.

If this were a game world, it’d definitely be a terrible game—you could just mash buttons randomly and win. Anyone using this character could reach Master Rank without effort. That’s how strong she is.

“I did tell you she was really strong, didn’t I?”

Einerza turned toward us slightly, speaking calmly with a serene smile. Beautiful—and terrifying at the same time.

No wonder she’s someone people worship.

“That’s right, you did say that. I’m duly impressed.”

I sincerely hoped for a future in which she never needed to show her true strength.

◇◇◇◇

We finally reached Luciti ‘s room and looked around inside.

“It hasn’t changed at all since last time.”

“The real Luciti  still isn’t here either. Did they not assign a replacement?”

“If there was one, the kitchen would get cramped.”

“Maybe everyone was taken back to the surface?”

After a quick inspection, the room seemed fine, so we decided to start our initial test.

“Well then… let me take this candelabrum and place it outside the room, maybe 20 meters away.”

With that, I quickly took the nearby candelabrum and carried it outside.

Everyone exited the room and waited down the corridor about twenty meters away.

“If it doesn’t disappear, we might be able to bring other stuff back too.”

“That candelabrum alone might fetch a high price.”

“It doesn’t seem like gold by weight, but the craftsmanship is beautiful.”

We chatted casually for about thirty minutes while watching what happened.

◇◇◇◇◇

“It’s been thirty minutes already, right?”

Okuda reminded me, and I realized—we’d waited long enough.

“Great! The candelabrum didn’t disappear! Let’s move out—grab all the valuables from the room!”

“Roger that!”

Back in Luciti ’s room, Okuda pulled out a blue tarp from his pack and spread it on the floor.

“So let’s put all the valuable things here for now.”

“I love saying ‘valuable things’—it feels so fun.”

And so we all began searching the room together.

First, the bright red carpet. We rolled it up tightly into a cylinder.

“Senpai, I’m going to use that as material for my new cape, so please handle it carefully.”

“A bright red cape? Sounds like royalty.”

“A queen, actually.”

Impressed by their creativity, I carefully collected the carpet.

“Boss, do ya think I got the talent for thievin’ or somethin’? This is super fun!”

Rocco said while removing a wall-mounted lamp.

“I know what you mean. It’s surprisingly fun taking whatever treasures you find.”

I replied while carrying a leather-covered chair.

Meanwhile, Einerza was tapping lightly on a wooden low table in the back of the room, inspecting its quality.

“Senpai, this looks fake. The pages are blank.”

Okuda said, holding a few books.

“It’s like props from a movie set.”

“But these could be useful for notes or diaries. I’ll bring some back—the binding is nice too.”

Everyone was gleaming with excitement as they looted the room.

“Junpei -niichan, catch it from below!”

Hayato was peeling a chandelier off the ceiling—it was amazing how easily he handled it. Truly a ninja.

◇◇◇◇◇

“That should be most of it.”

Looking around the room again, it seemed we had gathered all the valuables onto the blue tarp.

“This kinda looks like police seized property.”

“Except we’re doing the exact opposite.”

Everyone seemed satisfied after thoroughly enjoying the looting.

“Then let’s check the hidden passage before heading back.”

“Gold! Treasure! Valuables! Women and children! Steal it all!”

Looks like Okuda had completely fallen into the role of a thief.

◇◇◇◇◇

Behind the bookshelf was the hidden passage Luciti  had told us about. The corridor was dimly lit, but visible enough that we didn’t need lanterns.

“Just in case, stay alert in case any monsters appear.”

Warning everyone, we proceeded down the passage until we reached a pair of double doors at the end.

“Opening doors like this always gives me the creeps…”

“Should I open it?”

“Please do.”

Rocco stepped forward while the rest of us stood a few paces behind, weapons ready.

“Alright, here goes.”

He grabbed the door handle and pushed the door inward.

Inside was a narrow, dimly lit room.

“No enemies… this room is…”

“What’s this? A coffin?”

The room wasn’t large, and in the center sat a black coffin framed in metal.

“Is this Luciti ‘s bed?”

“Now that you mention it, he is a vampire.”

“Do you think this coffin is worth anything?”

“Who wants a used coffin?”

We searched the room thoroughly, but aside from the coffin, there was absolutely nothing else.

“Maybe it’s filled with treasure inside?”

“Eww, opening something that screams ‘classic horror’ is scary.”

“Me again?”

“Please do.”

Rocco approached the coffin and slowly slid open the lid.

“Gyahhh!!”

“!!!!”

As soon as Rocco peeked inside, he screamed and leapt backward.

“What?! What happened?!”

“Don’t do that—it’s not funny!”

“What was in there?!”

“T-t-there’s a p-person in here!!!”

“!!!!”

“No no no no no! Don’t do that kind of thing!”

“This is terrifying! Terrifying! Terrifying!”

“Yeeeeeeek!”

Even Einerza, who had been so strong earlier, clung to Hayato in panic.

“O-onee-san, let go!”

And Hayato, being hugged, was panicking for entirely different reasons.

To confirm what Rocco said, I steadied my breath and slowly approached the coffin, peering inside through the gap in the lid.

“Kyaaah!!”

Just as Rocco said, there really was a person inside.

Red flower petals were scattered across the bottom, and inside lay the corpse of a girl dressed elegantly in dark Gothic Lolita-style clothing.

“Why?! Why is there really a body in here?!”

“Ke-ke-ke-police! Police! Police!”

Everyone took turns looking inside and reacted exactly the same way.

“Yikes! There’s really a dead body!”

◇◇◇◇◇

After the commotion settled a bit, it took a few minutes for everyone to calm down.

“S-senpai… wh-what do we do with this body? Should we take it with us?”

“No way—we should just report it to Luciti  when we return.”

“Yeah, that sounds good.”

Just as we were about to leave the room, the corpse in the coffin suddenly sat upright.

“Yyyyyyaaaaaahh!! It moved!!”

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

“Okuda! Okuda! Time to exorcise it! Exorcise!!”

“I didn’t bring my staff!!”

The girl in the coffin watched our screaming chaos for a moment, then opened her mouth.

“Who are you all?”

“?!”

“She can talk normally?”

“Oh yeah, we’re in another world after all.”

“I apologize for barging into your ladyship’s bedroom uninvited. My name is Junpei , a dungeon explorer.”

Always polite greetings—that’s my motto.

“My, thank you for your courtesy. I am Nesue—I suppose I was sleeping here.”

“If I may be impolite, may I ask a few questions?”

“Of course.”

From what we learned from Nesue, much like Luciti , she didn’t understand why she was here either. She regained consciousness just recently and had no memory of her past. She also didn’t know Luciti , who had previously lived next door.

“And what will you do next, Lady Nesue? By the way, one of our companions is a vampire named Luciti  who used to live in the adjacent room.”

“Oh, then I’ll go with you all. There’s nothing for me to do here anyway.”

“Understood. Then let’s head to the surface together. By the way, are you also a vampire, Nesue-san?”

“No, I’m a succubus.”

“!!!!!”

“Hey, Rocco! You did it! This is the succubus you wanted to meet!”

“Hey! Don’t say that in front of her!”

I never imagined I’d actually meet a real succubus, especially after talking about them with Rocco before. In my mind, I expected a succubus to wear extremely revealing, sexy outfits—but in reality, she was wearing proper clothes that covered her appropriately.

“Senpai, can I ask you something for a second?”

As I was imagining a sexy succubus, Okuda called out to me.

“It’s about the packaging material in the coffin.”

“Packing material?”

“These petals… they don’t seem artificial. They look like real flowers.”

“What do you mean?”

According to Okuda, the petals weren’t fake decorations—they were actual flower petals, yet they remained fresh and beautiful despite possibly having been placed there a long time ago. That was abnormal.

“In other words, this coffin probably has the ability to preserve whatever is placed inside for a long period.”

“It’s like a super refrigerator!”

“Pick a cooler metaphor, please.”

If this preservation function was real, we could keep fish fresh indefinitely. A small but practical imagination ran through my mind.

“Then let’s take the coffin too. Nesue-san, is it okay if we move your coffin?”

“Oh, yes. I think that’s fine.”

Rocco and I lifted the coffin from both ends, passed through the corridor, and returned to Luciti ’s room.

◇◇◇◇◇

“Now, how shall we carry all these goods back?”

Back in Luciti ’s room, the group stood with arms crossed, staring at the loot spread across the blue tarp.

“We’ll pack the small items into our packs as much as possible. Whatever doesn’t fit can go in the coffin. For the larger items, flip the table upside-down and carry everything on top of it.”

“Got it.”

Following instructions, everyone started preparing to transport the loot. Since Einerza’s bag already contained feathers, there wouldn’t be much space left.

When I opened Einerza’s pack to add some books, my hand accidentally touched the feathers.

“Ah♪”

“Ah, sorry. And please stop making such sultry sounds.”

“Hehe, sorry.”

The feathers felt warm—clearly alive.

Despite the banter, preparations were completed.

“Then Nesue-san, I’m sorry to ask so soon after meeting you, but could you help us carry things?”

“Yes, of course.”

Rocco and I carried the flipped-over table loaded with furniture, while Okuda and Nesue carried the coffin full of smaller items. Hayato led the way while scouting ahead, and Einerza brought up the rear.

This was our formation for returning to the surface.
