Chapter 30 : Human

Are you referring to a regular female knight, or a trash-tier female knight?

“Troublesome…”

Mobius , looking down at the massacre and destruction below, exhaled an expressionless sigh.

Though one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King’s army, she had absolutely no will to protect her fellow demons.

It was just that, by naturally going with the flow, she somehow ended up in this inconvenient position as one of the Four Heavenly Kings. Because of that, she felt no sorrow for the current turmoil nor any sense of obligation to protect anything.

“I should’ve come back a little later…”

In fact, if she had returned to the capital more slowly, perhaps she wouldn’t have had to deal with such a riot at all.

As screams echoed, Mobius  gazed down blankly.

“Well, I guess there’s nothing else to do. After all, maybe he’s among them. He is human, after all.”

With those words, Mobius  gently descended downward.

She landed on a wide boulevard that, in normal times, bustled with many food stalls.

Many demons lay fallen, bleeding.

Even now, another demon was being killed by an imperial soldier.

The man who had blood splattered across his face and wore a cruel smile looked upon the descending figure of Mobius  and grinned even wider.

“Oh, fresh demon scum! Die, you filthy inferior species!”

He raised his sword and charged forward.

Looking closer, she really was quite attractive.

Her short bob haircut framed eyes that were cold yet beautiful like jewels.

Just seeing her full breasts and shapely hips made him smile.

There were so many ways to enjoy things besides simply killing her.

The man, intoxicated with the pleasure of humiliating and hurting others, drooled as he rushed forward…

“—Huh?”

A squelching sound rang out.

It came from the man’s face.

Mobius ‘ small fist had smashed into it.

Despite her delicate frame, which couldn’t compare to his well-trained physique, with just one blow, she shattered his face and sent him flying far behind.

“You’re not the one to kill me.”

Staring at the now motionless man, Mobius  murmured softly.

“…How noisy. Well, at least it’ll wake me up.”

Julia turned her sleep-deprived eyes toward the window, listening to the sounds coming from afar.

Being a living being, she did feel drowsiness.

However, since she wanted to immerse herself in research rather than waste time sleeping, she stayed awake until her body reached its limit and her consciousness faded away.

From her perspective, this disturbance wasn’t unwelcome at all.

“Hmm… screams? Doesn’t seem like something good.”

Still, Julia had no reason to feel endangered.

Her laboratory was located deep within a deadly labyrinth that was nearly impossible to reach normally.

Hardly anyone could make it here; most would die alone in some corner of the maze without ever being found.

“However, if demons are suffering, that’s quite nice. I can continue my research without worries.”

Her eyes, devoid of warmth even under normal circumstances, were even colder now, frozen like ice.

As Julia turned back to her research, she paused suddenly, her red hair swaying.

“But come to think of it… It would be troublesome if the Dark Knight dies. Even though he’s the strongest among the Four Heavenly Kings, I can’t believe he’d die so easily…”

The Dark Knight was one of the few beings who ever visited this lab.

Ah, right. She couldn’t allow him to die.

While it didn’t matter how many other random demons died, he was an exception.

When she brought her hands together in front of her ample chest, they softly deformed and twisted.

And just like a love-struck maiden, she blushed, her pale, sickly skin turning red.

“After all, he’s important research material for me.”

“Go, ‘Chasing Disc Blades!'”

Discs spinning rapidly flew from Dennis’ sword.

Their rotational speed was extremely high, capable of easily slicing anything they touched.

They approached Luna from multiple angles.

Perhaps not very fitting for a princess, but she leapt backward to evade them.

Still, her brown skin, not particularly adept at intense physical exertion or evasive maneuvers, was sliced by the Chasing Disc Blades.

Her shoulder split open, blood spraying forth.

Despite the obvious excruciating pain, Luna fixed Dennis with an unchanging gaze.

She had avoided the attack. Now it was her turn.

However, things wouldn’t go so smoothly.

“It’s useless to dodge! Those blades won’t stop until they carve your body to pieces!”

The Chasing Disc Blades, having passed her once, turned around and attacked Luna again.

Once released, this technique would never cease until its target was completely shredded and dead.

This was Dennis’ trump card, an ultimate move in which he had full confidence.

Indeed, it would be difficult to imagine a more annoying ability.

No matter how many times she dodged, it would pursue her relentlessly, slicing her upon contact.

“Foolish girl! For daring to stand before me and obstruct my path to becoming king of demons, you’ll regret it in the afterlife!”

Repeating foolish words and indulging in leisure while his sister played around, Dennis was certain of victory, grinning cruelly at the prospect of killing his sister…

“That’s childish nonsense.”

Suddenly, a fierce wind blew outward from Luna.

A faintly colored, magic-infused breeze.

Thus, Dennis’ ultimate technique, the Chasing Disc Blades, was effortlessly blown away and vanished entirely.

“What…?!”

Dennis stood dumbfounded, unable to comprehend what had just occurred.

Wind nullifying his own technique?

Well, that part he could understand.

What he couldn’t comprehend was that it had been done by his younger sister—the supposedly stupid and powerless fool.

Luna shouldn’t possess such strength.

And yet… How?

“This is boring… Such a tedious technique. Brother, because you focused only on schemes and plots, you can only use techniques that cannot even kill a child.”

“What?! I’m going to become king of demons! What good would training myself do!?”

Raising her voice, she looked down at Dennis as he slowly backed away, filled with pity.

“Surely, you should have trained at least in basic self-defense techniques? You must consider situations like this—brother and sister fighting to the death. That’s what succession battles are about.”

A faintly glowing vortex of wind converged in her palm aimed at Dennis.

The sphere struck him, sending him flying further backward.

“Gah!?”

His back slammed violently against the wall, leaving him gasping for breath, writhing in agony.

This kind of pain was unlike anything he’d ever experienced in his life.

Which makes sense—he had never truly fought for his life before.

Born as the son of the Demon King, why would he need rigorous combat training?

Such things were better left to subordinates and lower-class soldiers.

Dennis deeply regretted his previous beliefs.

Watching Luna slowly creep toward him, he felt unbearable fear.

“N-No… Stop! Please! I still haven’t…!”

“There are no second chances at this point. Inviting external enemies warrants immediate execution. Brother, you almost destroyed the future of our race. Make sure to reflect properly in the afterlife.”

Her older brother’s desperate pleas for mercy fell on deaf ears—Luna had already cut off all sentiment for the sake of the demon race’s future.

Inviting humans, their enemy race, and plunging the demon capital into chaos, Dennis had no reason to live.

Even if he survived, he would surely become a source of future problems.

Therefore, she would kill him.

Not that she cared much about the attempt on her own life.

But the mere fact that he lived meant misfortune for the demon race.

That’s why she would kill him.

“Now, now. We can’t have that.”

At the same moment a soft male voice spoke, an arrow pierced Luna’s thick, tanned thigh.

The arrowhead tore through her skin, gouging flesh and drawing blood.

Nevertheless, Luna didn’t flinch, halting her movement to fix her gaze in the direction the arrow had come from.

“…A human?”

Armand stood there, smiling eerily.
