The Homeless Camper Wants to Live Leisurely in a Dungeon ~Even Dangerous Deep-Layer Monsters Are Just Ingredients to Me~
“…I see. Understood. I’ll check on it right away and get back to you.”
“Yes, thank you. I appreciate it, especially this late at night.”
“No, not at all. After the trouble I caused the other day, this is the least I can do. Well then, I’ll be off.”
Beep
“Phew~”
I finished my conversation with Hyakutake from the Dungeon Association, using the tiresome formal language.
I was a bit surprised that Hyakutake picked up so quickly even though it’s late at night, but I’m grateful for it.
“How did it go?”
“Unfortunately, the Dungeon Association doesn’t have any Tears of the Angel in their possession either. They’ll look into whether there’s any country that might be able to acquire it within the next four or five days, including delivery. They’ll also check which dungeons have produced the Tears of the Angel so far and how to use it, and get back to us as soon as they can.”
“I see…”
“If that’s the case, then getting it from a dungeon treasure chest is our only option. @Ketchara ”
“We could also try offering a reward and make a public appeal. Wealthy people sometimes have rare magic items that act like miracle drugs. @Tantan Tanuki no Kin”
“But in that case, it might be hard to verify whether it’s genuine. With that kind of money involved, I’m sure some bad actors would try to pass off fakes. @Runa”
“That seems very likely. Plus, Hige Daruma is pretty high-profile right now, so I bet a bunch of clout-chasing streamers will try to jump on the bandwagon. @WAKABA”
“Still, offering a reward might not be a bad idea. We could rely on sheer numbers to search treasure chests on dungeon floors where the Tears of the Angel have appeared. @†Passing Camper†”
“…I see. For now, offering a reward for the Tears of the Angel sounds like a solid plan. Luckily, I can use my streaming channel for that.”
My streaming channel has gained a decent number of subscribers. If I can get my viewers to help spread the word, my message could reach a lot of people.
“But I’m not confident I’ll be able to verify if it’s genuine…”
“We can help a bit with that. We’ll set up an email address so people can contact us, and we’ll do the verification. @XYZ”
“Unless it’s a well-known entrepreneur or a famous dungeon explorer, we can probably assume it’s fake. Also, it might be best to only hand over the reward after verifying the item’s effects. @Root Beer”
“If the person is a dungeon explorer, we could have them hand it over inside a dungeon. That might help weed out the liars. @Kana”
“There’s a good chance other explorers will flock to the dungeon looking for the Tears of the Angel too, so it might be best for Hige Daruma to reach that floor first. @†Passing Camper†”
“You’re right. I’ll leave the verification part to you guys. And yeah, it’s probably better if I reach that dungeon floor first.”
Alright, things are starting to come together. I’ll focus on exploring that dungeon and looking for treasure chests while also calling for help from other explorers.
“Oh, Hyakutake already sent a follow-up message. …As expected, going through overseas channels looks tough. Money aside, it would take around ten days even in the fastest case. As for how to use the Tears of the Angel, it seems oral intake is enough. He also looked into the Runeorm disease in detail, but so far there’s no other magic item that works besides the Tears of the Angel.”
Unfortunately, we didn’t get much good news. I replied asking them to continue searching for a way to obtain the item. Still, I really appreciate how much he managed to find out in such a short time.
“We got information about dungeons and floors in Japan where the Tears of the Angel have appeared. …It’s shown up in the Osaka Dungeon, but it’s also confirmed to have dropped from the boss chest on the 50th floor of the Yokohama Dungeon. Repeating that floor seems to give the highest chance.”
In dungeons, boss monsters appear every 10 floors. These bosses are special monsters that don’t appear on other floors and are much stronger than the regular ones on that level.
However, if you manage to defeat a boss, you’re guaranteed at least one treasure chest. Moreover, studies have shown that the boss chests always contain items — no duds — and have a higher chance of yielding rare magic items than the regular floor chests.
From my own experience, I also feel like rare magic items appear more often in boss chests. That said, bosses are strong and there are no edible monsters on those floors, so we usually only run them when we’re specifically after rare items or materials.
“The 50th floor of the Yokohama Dungeon, huh? That means the Tears of the Angel show up in chests between floors 41 and 50, right? @Ketchara ”
“Yeah. Basically, the items in dungeon chests change every 10 floors. Since the Tears of the Angel seem extremely rare, they probably also appear on higher floors too. @Tantan Tanuki no Kin”
“Apparently, the Yokohama Dungeon has been cleared up to the 60th floor. Sounds like one of the most advanced dungeons in Japan. @Root Beer”
“In the Yokohama Dungeon, there’s also a record of the Tears of the Angel appearing from a chest on the 42nd floor. Since it hasn’t shown up on floors below the 40th in other dungeons either, it’s safe to say it only appears on floors 40 and up.”
“So the best plan is for Hige Daruma to reach the 41st floor of the Yokohama Dungeon as quickly as possible, then use his stream to announce he’s buying the Tears of the Angel at a high price, call for anyone who has one, and seek cooperation from other explorers. @†Passing Camper†”
“Yeah, that sounds good. @XYZ”
“This time, it’s a race against time~ @WAKABA”
