Chapter 47 : Looking away

As the strongest witch in history, I somehow ended up being feared so much that I’m all alone. So, I figured I’d buy a cute girl slave and ask her for all kinds of things

Looking Away

It brought about a situation far worse than I could have ever imagined.

“Seriously, now.”

Because of my momentary lapse in attention, the monster’s attack struck me directly in the stomach and sent me flying into the orphanage.

The orphanage was protected by a barrier I had meticulously set up—one that inflicted damage on anyone who touched it, and temporarily disrupted the flow of magic within their body. And now, because I had come into contact with my own harmful barrier, my body was in serious trouble.

“…This is troublesome. I shouldn’t have relied on this just because I used it once before. Now I’m suffering from my own technique.”

“Grrrrrrrrrrr”

My magic really is high-performance, isn’t it?

As I struggled to regain control of my magic while being tormented by my own spell, I faced the monster in front of me.

“W-What… I-I didn’t mean to—”

“This is… quite the situation…!”

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Tia holding a small girl in her arms.

Tia must have left the orphanage to chase after a child who had wandered outside due to the commotion.

“…I can’t let her see me like this.”

Tia was now completely collapsed, as if her legs had given out beneath her.

She wouldn’t be able to return to the safety of the orphanage anytime soon.

And to make matters worse, she was now outside the protective barrier.

“…”

Although I doubted the monster targeting me would attack Tia…

“…Huh?”

Even so, I might end up dragging her into this mess. I need to be more careful with my magic from here on out.

But before that thought could fully form—

Perhaps I had unknowingly triggered some strange twist of fate.

“GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

The monster, which I had assumed would only attack me, suddenly turned its gaze toward Tia and charged straight at her.

“That won’t be allowed!”

From that point on, there was no hesitation in my actions.

I stepped forward to shield Tia from the monster.

“Gah!”

Due to the barrier constricting my neck, I couldn’t properly channel my magic. As a result, the monster’s strike pierced through my body.
